Verna has today announced that Helen Nyul has joined its team as Director of Ecology. She will lead Verna’s ecology function, and help to ensure the company’s software enables nature recovery at scale.

Helen brings a unique blend of experience, having worked across sectors and specialisms to achieve nature progress. Prior to joining Verna she was Group Head of Biodiversity at the UK’s largest housebuilder, Barratt Redrow, where she positioned the business as a biodiversity leader – including by delivering a Biodiversity Net Gain commitment 12 months ahead of its legal start. Earlier roles included work at a Local Planning Authority as Biodiversity Officer and almost a decade at NGO Fauna & Flora developing and monitoring biodiversity strategies for multi-national businesses.

Speaking about Helen’s appointment, Verna’s Co-CEO Rafi Cohen said: “Verna’s mission is to use software to accelerate nature recovery – across sectors and countries, via Biodiversity Net Gain and beyond. Helen has led nature programmes in corporates, NGOs and the public sector, and knows how to turn ambition into delivery. We’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Helen Nyul said: “Verna is already helping Local Planning Authorities deliver better nature outcomes all over England. I’m excited to both continue that work, and expand our support to help developers, landowners, and any organisation with nature recovery goals to make them a reality.”
