Verna wins place in World Economic Forum’s UpLink programme
Invitation to join WEF’s prestigious innovation engine recognises Verna’s work to make land restoration at scale measurable, investable, and commercially viable.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) has today announced that it has awarded Verna a place on its prestigious UpLink programme.
UpLink is WEF’s early-stage innovation engine, which connects purpose-driven innovators with the partnerships, resources and capital they need to scale their solutions. The announcement, made at New York Climate Week, spotlighted eleven ventures chosen for UpLink’s Scaling Land Restoration Challenge. Over two hundred start-ups applied for a place.
The latest UpLink challenge called for solutions that accelerate and commercialise the restoration of land, from post-mining recovery and soil rehabilitation to landscape monitoring. It focuses on tackling three key barriers to nature recovery programmes:
- Capital does not reach projects when it is needed.
- Outcomes cannot be measured reliably enough to attract investment-grade finance.
- Restoration is treated as a compliance cost rather than a commercial opportunity.
Verna’s Co-CEO Rafi Cohen said: “We’re excited to join the global UpLink community and work with the World Economic Forum on land restoration.
